There's nothing quite like a tasty treat, and when they're homemade, they're even more delightful - and Mary Berry's four-ingredient flapjacks are a must-eat.

They're so easy to make, so could be prepared after work, and because they don't contain many ingredients, you may already have the necessary things in your cupboard. Tasting divine with a hot cup of tea, the oaty bakes definitely taste their best when they're made at home, and they could even make a welcome part of your Christmas offering.

As claimed by Good to Know, the sweet treats are "so easy to prepare and only takes 30 minutes to bake." You'll find the full recipe below.

Making 24 servings, you will need:

  • 125g butter (plus extra for greasing)
  • 90g golden syrup
  • 90g light muscovado sugar
  • 250g rolled oats

The method is also so easy. You need to start by lightly buttering a roasting tin or a shallow cake tin, around 20cm by 30cm in size. Then, combine butter, syrup, and sugar in a saucepan and heat gently until the ingredients melt. Once the mixture has fully dissolved, stir in the oats and mix it well. Simply spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and smooth the surface using a palette knife.

Finally, bake the flapjacks in a preheated oven at 180C (160C fan, gas mark four) for approximately 30 minutes, and once they're cooked, leave them to cool in the tin for around five minutes, then set them aside.

When they're mostly solid, with a slight softness to them, slice them into 24 bite-sized servings, and get ready to enjoy them. According to Mary the oaty bites are best enjoyed warm but can also be kept in an airtight cake tin to tuck into at a later date.

She also "recommends keeping a slice of bread in the container as this helps stop the bars from losing moisture and becoming dry."
