You might be well acquainted with the self-service tills at McDonald's, but have you ever wondered what it's like on the other side of the counter?

McDonald's is known for its speedy service, and making sure you get your tasty food items fast, is its amazing employees - but there's a reason they manage to do it so quickly. They use secret codes when wrapping burgers, according to an employee.

Abbie, who works at McDonald's at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol, recently shared the clever technique she uses to wrap a delicious double cheeseburger - and there's a specific method to it.

The secret, according to Abbie, is that the name of the burger is always at the top corner of the wrapper, on the inside, facing the toaster, so employees can see it while the buns are toasting. That means they'll never forget which burger they are preparing - so that you'll get served quicker.

Taking to TikTok, Abbie explained: "First, take your bun and pop it down the toaster. While that's toasting, grab your wrapper. Whatever the burger is, have that name at the top corner facing towards the toaster."

If you take a look at the inside of the wrapper, you'll see that it says Double Cheeseburger, Bacon Mayo Chicken, Mayo Chicken and Bacon Double Cheeseburger - but the one that's being made should be in the top left corner.

Then for the next secret code. You may have noticed burger-like circles on the inside of the wrapper, and presumed it was just the pattern - but that's not entirely true. The employees use these to make sure they can wrap the burgers quickly.

Abbie put the top of the bun onto the double cheeseburger circle, before adding all the ingredients - ketchup, mustard, onion, pickles, meat and cheese - before placing the bottom bun on top. Once the burger was assembled, Abbie started wrapping the burger.

She first folded the paper in a triangle towards the top, before tucking in the bottom and the sides in - and because of the burger placement, the double cheeseburger symbol was on the outside of the burger. This makes it clear for other employees to identify it too, so it can be placed with the correct meal.

People were blown away in the comment section, and admitted they had no idea about the wrapper trick. One person said: "It's the same wrapper!" While another said: "I love the paper placement, never knew that!" A third asked: "Can you do a slow mo of the wrap? My brain never comprehends it."
