'Emotional' Paul Burrell gives health update after prostate cancer diagnosis

Paul Burrell has announced he has been given the all clear from cancer, months on from his diagnosis earlier this year.

The former Royal butler and I'm A Celebrity star confirmed the news to Lorraine Kelly on her show on Thursday. After undergoing medical checks for the I'm A Celebrity All Stars special, Paul was diagnosed with prostate cancer after being alerted to his symptoms.

Paul has updated Lorraine and her viewers on his treatment over the past year, and on Thursday he announced he was cancer free. Lorraine asked how he had been doing, to which he replied: "Well, I'm really happy to tell you Lorraine that I went to see my consultant last week, and she gave me the all clear.

"So my numbers came down from originally something like 10 to 0.06, it's good news. I will continue with the hormone therapy which is a bit of a pain because I am putting on weight and I am more emotional than usual, and the hot sweats."

Earlier this year, Paul credited I’m A Celebrity for saving his life. Paul was told he had prostrate cancer after a medical check-up ahead of appearing on I'm A Celebrity All Stars flagged he had raised PSA levels. Speaking on Lorraine in March, Paul said: “That show, I’m A Celebrity, literally saved my life.

“Because I went for the medical [and] they found a raised PSA level. I went to my GP and I said to him, ‘Am I still able to do the show?’ And he said, ‘Look, this can wait until you get back [from filming] and when you get back, we’ll continue with the investigations’.

“So when I got back, then I had an MRI scan and then I had a biopsy and then they told me that I had cancer, and then I had to go on the path of treatment.” Paul later shared, “I’m so grateful to ITV for picking me to do the jungle because, without that, I would still be sat here today not knowing I had cancer growing inside of me.

"So my journey is a happy one.” On Thursday Lorraine credited Paul for keeping her viewers informed about his health journey since his diagnosis, as she told him his news was "fantastic"

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV1 and ITVX. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on , , , , and .
