'Killer mum' emotionless as she claims 'I was manipulated by WiFi and Facebook'

A mum appeared emotionless in court as she claims she was "manipulated by WiFi and Facebook" before allegedly murdering her two sons.

Tiffanie Lucas appeared before a judge on Tuesday after police charged her with killing Maurice, 6, and Jayden, 9. But she claimed in an initial police interview that she was "manipulated" before the horrific killings.

The bodies of the boys were discovered by police bleeding in bed at their family home in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, on November 8. Lucas was herself discovered collapsed in her yard after the bodies of her two sons were found next to a gun.

A judge said the mum was a danger to others and set bail at $2million (£1.6 million) the next day. Lucas appeared on a second hearing on Tuesday after appearing emotionless by video link last week. Bullitt County Detective Richard Beahl said Jayden and Maurice had been shot in the head by four bullets in 30 seconds.

He said: "I asked Ms. Lucas if she meant to hurt her children. She indicated that it was an accident." Fox WDRB reports. Lucas answered "yes" when asked if she was given the weapon. Beahl revealed Lucas "made statements that she was being manipulated through Facebook, through the internet or through Wi-Fi — through Facebook and through her Wi-Fi — being manipulated into doing what she did."

She then said: "I'm so stupid, I would never do anything like this unless someone manipulated me," the court heard.

But Michelle Rice, Maurice Baker Jr's stepmother, rejected the idea of manipulation outright and said: "Nobody can manipulate you to do such a horrific thing, That's yourself." Rice said she showed no emotion while in court. It follows Lucas's friend Talia Crutcher, who previously said "she gets mad and flips a switch."

There have reportedly been criminal court filings against Lucas in Kentucky and the mother has been in prison before on drug possession conviction, reports The Daily Beast.

The excuses by Lucas, however, were not taken on board by Rice who insisted she had no mental health issues and was on drugs. State Police did not test her for drugs when she was arrested and Rice doesn’t believe it was an accident. She told Wave3.com: “So many other people really loved them and could’ve been there to help them,” she said, “but [Lucas} wouldn’t allow that, she was too selfish. And now they’re gone.”

Jayden's older brother, Durrell Howard, told local news that the boys' biological families had contacted child protective services before. He said: "If it came to me snatching the boys out of the house, I should have and I will hold that on my back for the rest of my life. For both them boys."
