Prince Harry has been praised for offering the "olive branch" that could diffuse tensions between the Sussexes and the Royal Family for good.
Harry called his father, King Charles, to send him birthday wishes as he turned 75. The Duke of Sussex called his “Pa” following a day of engagements for the monarch, after the pair had barely been on speaking terms for months.
Royal sources said it was likely to be a “nice surprise” for the King, who had not heard from Harry, either by phone or message, “for some time”. His Majesty is understood to have had a friendly and cordial chat with his boy during the transatlantic chat.
Charles also spoke on the phone with Harry's wife Meghan Markle and received a video of Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, singing happy birthday to their grandfather, who he has only met on a handful of occasions.

The phonecall could end the ongoing fuedSources have revealed that the phonecall proves that "both sides have a desire to bury the hatchet and start to mend their relationship." The insider told the Telegraph: "As the King joined close friends for a birthday dinner at Clarence House on Tuesday night, he will undoubtedly have felt a weight lifted from his shoulders.
"Today, those on both sides hope that instead, Prince Harry’s olive branch on the King’s birthday marked a genuine turning point, offering an opportunity for both father and son to move forwards."
It was the first time the father and son had spoken to each other since April, shortly before Charles was coronated King. Charles is reportedly still open to hearing from Harry, his "dear boy".
There is an open invite for the pair to meet whenever he's in the UK, it has been reported. During yesterday's call, the trio made plans to talk again soon, the Sun reports.It's previously been reported that the King has been reluctant to take calls from Harry after Megxit.
It has also been rumoured that Harry's brother Prince William and Queen Camilla have been advising His Majesty not to engage with him after he made the family a public spectacle On Netflix and in his memoir, Spare. A source said: “The King was extremely busy but is polite and loves his son and his grandchildren, and not so mean that he would not take a call on his birthday.”
The source continued: “There is still a long way to go to mend the rift created over many years — and the deeper issues caused by allegations in the Netflix series and Spare are not healed with a phone call.”
