There was a time when Prince William and Prince Harry couldn't have been closer. Their brotherly bond was evident whenever they stepped out together - but all that came grinding to a halt when Harry and Meghan Markle announced they were leaving their royal roles.

The siblings have now been locked in a bitter feud for a number of years - and it seems there is no end in sight. One of the flashpoints in their rift was the publication of Harry's explosive memoir, Spare, in which he claimed that William physically attacked him in a heated row at Kensington Palace, amongst other allegations.

"It all happened so fast. So very fast," Prince Harry wrote. "He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog's bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out."

When the book hit shelves in January, the Royal Family kept on with business as usual, and just days after its release, William and his wife Kate carried out a visit to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where they were mobbed by fans.

During their outing, one royal fan was quick to voice her support for the future king - and it prompted a telling three-word response from him. It came when 81-year-old Sylvia clutched William's hand and said: "Keep going Will, Scousers love you," referring to the nickname given to people hailing from Liverpool.

William responded with a simple: "I will do" - seemingly suggesting he isn't keen to bury the hatchet with his younger brother any time soon. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were dealt another major blow this week when they were left off the invit e list for King Charles' 75th birthday celebrations.

It's also believed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won't be reuniting with the Royal Family for Christmas amid growing tensions. Sources have suggested the family rift means "there is no such possibility" for Meghan and Harry to reunite with the firm and one expert believes it's down to their tell-all Netflix documentary and the explosive book.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Ryan McCormick, the Co-Founder of Goldman McCormick Public Relations said: "If you try to make a name for yourself by severing the hand that raised you, don't be surprised when you don't receive Christmas invitations from them. In Harry's memoir 'Spare', he calls King Charles' second wife Camilla "dangerous".

"Charles may still be upset by it. Also, he and other members of the Royal Family may not want Harry and Meghan around for fear of being quoted in a future tell-all book."

There have been rumours circulating that Meghan is set to follow in her husband's footsteps and release her own memoir. Harry's book became "the fastest selling non-fiction book of all time" when it was released earlier this year.
