Since it only comes around once a year, Christmas Day should be filled with endless joy - but unfortunately it can sometimes be ruined by unwanted family drama.

Some relatives may bicker and cause a fuss around the dinner table, which evidently ruins the festivity. Embarrassingly, one man was the cause of the problem. He was quick to point out his mother-in-law's flaws after she invited him over to have a meal at her home. He felt that she was less than accommodating to his needs - and served him food that he didn't like. After the terrible day, the disgruntled social media user sought revenge on his mother-in-law.

Ten years later, he sent her an invitation to dine at his place. When she came over he plated her some sirloin steak, despite knowing she hated it. He revealed his plan on Reddit and said: "About 10 years ago I was invited to Xmas dinner at MIL's house. MIL is an entitled man-hater and treats my wife like her own personal servant.

"Sit down for dinner and there is absolutely nothing I can eat. Not just won't eat because I don't like it, but all foods that give me serious GI distress. Her attitude was that a guest should just eat what they are given. I pointed out to wife that when she comes to my parents house for dinner my parents go out of their way to make sure they make something she will eat. My wife just doesn't like any Red meat. Not can't eat it, but just doesn't. My parents always make sure there is another option for her. My wife still says well her mother has a point. (yeah the point is she is a rude man-hating b****)."

He finished off the post by saying: "Well last night she came over, wife was at work until after dinner so I purposely made something my MIL hated. My daughter's favourite meal is sirloin steak, so I got to look like the doting father. Then I asked MIL if she wanted some. She hates sirloin steak so she didn't eat it. I politely said 'oh you should have told me you didn't eat steak'. Revenge in this case was a dish served warm."

Some social media users said he shouldn't handled the situation differently He penned: "Should have said “It's rude for guests not to eat what they're served. Isn't that what you told me?" Another person wrote: "Why didn't you tell her that she was being rude for not eating what was served, like it is at her house? You missed the best opportunity to make her literally eat her own words! Maybe next time you will remember."

A third said: "You missed the opportunity to say "Just like at your house - A guest should eat what they are given and if you don't like that, GTFO there's the door."
