William and Harry turned King Charles' birthday photo into 'absolute nightmare'
King Charles is marking a special day today - that's because he turns 75. The day will be filled with his usual royal duties and he will still receive his daily red box full of policy papers, Foreign Office messages, letters and other state papers on his big day. But there will be no doubt time for a small celebration too.
His birthdays are usually low-key affairs but five years ago when he turned 70, Charles decided to celebrate the day by releasing several gorgeous family photos. In them, he proudly sits beside wife Queen Camilla with his sons Prince William and Prince Harry also in the photo along with the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex.

But while fans loved the rare family shots, it was reportedly an "absolute nightmare" to arrange as William and Harry made very little effort in making sure the shoot happened, a book claims. In their bombshell biography Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claimed that the royal brothers "can be hot and cold with their father".
The authors wrote: "The boys can be hot and cold with their father' disclosed a source, who gave the example of planning the photo session for Charles' 70th birthday, which they called 'an absolute nightmare'. Neither William nor Harry made much of an effort to make themselves available, the source said."

Two photos from the photoshoot were released, the first a more formal snap and the second a candid picture which shows the family laughing. However, since that day, it seems the two brothers have gone on to have very different relationships with their father.
Despite their sometimes bumpy relationship, Charles and William are now said to have a bond "built on love, affection and respect". The pair both share a passion for tackling climate change and William publicly pledged his allegiance to his father at the Coronation.

During a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry accused his dad of refusing to take his calls and claims he cut him off financially.
Meanwhile, sources previously said the King and Queen Camilla were left 'furious' and 'wearied' by the claims Harry made in his bombshell book, Spare. They included Charles not hugging Harry after the death of his mother Princess Diana and his stepmother Camilla "sacrificing" him in exchange for good PR.
According to the Daily Mail, even as Charles approaches his birthday, there is "undeniable anger at the anguish the King believes Harry caused the late Queen in the last years of her life". It also adds that Harry's criticism of Camilla also did not go down well. However, the publication claims Charles will "never close the door" on his youngest son - but no apology, which Harry is demanding, is forthcoming as yet as the monarch has an incredibly busy diary.
The rift between Harry and his father means that Charles has only had a handful of meetings with his grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. And a source told the paper: " There's a lot of hurt on both sides, but time is a healer. For now, it is baby steps forward. It's very sad His Majesty doesn't get to see his son or his grandchildren, but there's no rush to patch things up."
