Holidays fill us with excitement, but the hassle when we are at the airport, including the security checks, liquid allowance, and flight cancellations can make a stressful start to any trip. However, travel content creator Grace – who goes under the handle Gracietravels on TikTok – shared the secret to carrying liquids, in particular water.

The post was captioned: “What are some other great hacks?” In the post the TikTokker shared: “These are travel hacks noone talks about. First off, I know a lot of people don’t know this but you can actually take a full bottle of water through security only if it is frozen, because, yes, ice is solid and water is frozen.

All you have to do is freeze the water before you leave for the airport, and before you hit security drink whatever has melted, and to me personally I think it’s the biggest hack ever." Grace went on to share more tips and tricks when jetting away, including how to know if anyone has been in your hotel room, and claim upgrades on your stay.

The post continued: “Second, if you’re staying in a hotel and you want to see if anyone has entered the room unauthorised all you have got to do is tape a hair at the bottom of the door frame and when you come back to your room you’ll see if the hair has been broken or not and then you’ll know if someone has come in or not.

“This one is important if you are a frequent flyer, but it’s a better idea to always stay with one hotel chain that way you’re able to collect points and with your loyalty you’ll get rewarded and better customer service with a ton of upgrades.” Grace has also advised holidaygoers to be the last on the plane if they wish to get an entire row to themselves.

She advised: “When you’re flying economy ask for the aisle seat and be the last person to enter the plane and now you’re the last person to enter you’ll get to see all the empty seats on the plane. In this case you can just opt to choose whatever is available and hopefully you’ll get a row all to yourself so you can just lay down the entire flight.”

Of course, one failsafe travel essential is a universal adapter, as she concluded: “Lastly, when you’re travelling internationally always carry a universal power adapter because you’ll never know when you’re going to need it. When I started travelling this was actually one of my biggest issues and I had to keep rebuying it. So these are just some hacks to make your trip a lot easier.”

Grace’s post has attracted a lot of attention, as it has racked up over 8,000 likes on the social media site. One commented: Thank you for these tips, they're amazing”, while another gushed: “These are the best travel hacks omg!”
