Prince Harry 'doesn't care' new move leaves him 'deeply resented' by family

Prince Harry is said to be "unfazed" after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet weren't invited to King Charles' birthday celebrations.

Harry's father will celebrate his landmark 75th birthday next week with a number of public and private events. It's expected that his wife Queen Camilla, eldest son Prince William, daughter-in-law Princess Kate and his grandchildren will be there to share the fun, but his youngest son won't be there.

There were initially reports that Harry, wife Meghan Markle, and children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet had been invited to join - however Harry's team have stressed that's not the case. Speaking on The Royal Beat programme, The Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers said: "Interestingly, after the first report [that he had declined an invitation to the birthday] Harry’s people were kicking back quite vociferously.

"They wanted it to be known that there was still no contact between them. They were putting it out actively to say that he has had no contact from anyone, his father or the Palace, and that just tells you a lot about the relationship."

Following the initial reports that it was Harry and Meghan's decision not to attend, a spokesman for the couple said: "There has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday. It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story."

Royal Family commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Daily Express US that Prince Harry "doesn't care" and is "unfazed" about being snubbed by his father. He said: "It could certainly take years for a reconciliation to happen between Prince Harry and the Royal Family.

"Who would trust Harry and Meghan, especially after their timing releasing the news about not hearing anything about an invite to King Charles' 75th birthday celebrations hours before the King's first speech opening Parliament as Monarch," Richard added. "The Sussexes have previously disrupted royal plans in this way and obviously it is deeply resented by the Royal Family and by courtiers.

"I really don’t think Harry cares about not being invited to his father’s 75th. The rift runs deep. The Sussexes reportedly still want an apology from the Royal family," he then concluded: "What the future holds is uncertain. It is not a pleasant prospect for King Charles to deal with."
