Shocking footage has captured the moment far-right groups launched an attack on police officers as a mass brawl broke out in London.

The far-right crowd could be seen confronting officers as they chanted "you're not English anymore". Many of them covered their faces with masks as they repeatedly shouted the phrase.

Met Police released the terrifying clip and condemned the violence that had been carried against officers this afternoon. It comes after officers were dispersed across the capital following concerns that disruption would take place on Armistice Day, following planned demonstrations surrounding the Israel-Hamas conflict. Organisers had estimated that around half a million people would gather to call for a ceasefire in London.

However, the force previously asked for campaigners to re-consider protesting this weekend as they highlighted there has been an increased risk of "violence and disorder linked to protests". Police also stressed that hate crime has continued to increase "significantly" and warned that "breakaway groups" had formed in response. The force shared the video on Twitter and wrote: "These officers are deployed in central London today to keep people safe. They were met with violence and abuse by counter protestors who threw bottles and other missiles at them. We will respond robustly to unacceptable aggression and disorder." Mayor of London Sadiq Khan blamed Suella Braverman for protesters’ clashes with police. He tweeted: “The scenes of disorder we witnessed by the far-right at the Cenotaph are a direct result of the Home Secretary’s words. The police’s job has been made much harder. The Met have my full support to take action against anyone found spreading hate and breaking the law.”

Earlier today, counter-protesters clashed with police near Westminster underground station. They were seen blocking police vans towards Westminster Bridge. The thugs chanted “England till I die” and “we want our country back” before confronting officers, many of whom have had to deploy riot helmets. English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson previously called the public to help "protect" the Cenotaph despite demonstrations being planned away from the area. Meanwhile, the Democratic Football Lads Alliance also called for action on Facebook. The post read: “Vets have reached out and asked for our support due to the threat from the far-left and pro-Palestinian supporters to disrupt the Remembrance Day parade. We are calling on all football lads up and down the country to join us in standing shoulder to shoulder with our veterans that fought for our freedom.”
