Prince Harry's team 'kick back vociferously' at King's birthday invite claims
Prince Harry's team have "hit back quite vociferously" at claims Prince Harry has been invited to join the Royal Family for King Charles' 75th birthday celebrations.
Harry's father will celebrate the landmark occasion next week with a number of public and private events. It's expected that his wife Queen Camilla, eldest son Prince William, daughter-in-law Princess Kate and his grandchildren will be there to share the fun, but his youngest son won't be there.
There were initially reports that Harry, wife Meghan Markle, and children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet had been invited to join - however Harry's team have stressed that's not the case. Speaking on The Royal Beat programme, The Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers said: "Interestingly, after the first report [that he had declined an invitation to the birthday] Harry’s people were kicking back quite vociferously. They wanted it to be known that there was still no contact between them. They were putting it out actively to say that he has had no contact from anyone, his father or the Palace, and that just tells you a lot about the relationship."

It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story."

A source has also claimed that the couple didn't even know the party was happening until they read media reports. The source said: "In this case, they aren’t [invited] and that's okay. I'm sure the Duke will find a way to reach out privately to wish His Majesty a happy birthday like he always done. The story in The Times as well as subsequent stories have been positioned in a way to make it look like the Duke is snubbing his father, which he is not."
As well as the party, the King will mark the occasion publicly in a number of ways - including being the cover star for this month's Big Issue to launch of the Coronation Food Project.
Charles is to use his milestone 75th birthday to officially launch the scheme which aims to support the nation during the cost-of-living crisis by redistributing food destined for landfills. The Big Issue's article will be published on Monday, ahead of the King's birthday on Tuesday and in the piece, Charles notes his concern for the amount of food waste across the country.
The King says: "Food need is as real and urgent a problem as food waste - and if a way could be found to bridge the gap between them, then it would address two problems in one.
"It is my great hope that this Coronation Food Project will find practical ways to do just that - rescuing more surplus food, and distributing it to those who need it most."
