Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has stepped away from being a football pundit to become a fashion model as he takes part in Addidas' latest clothing brand campaign - and fans couldn't believe their eyes.

The 52-year-old former footballer, who is known for being incredibly opinionated when discussing football matches, posed for the camera alongside his beloved pooch, while modelling the sport brand's latest outdoor range. In the advert, Roy takes his dog Jet out for a walk in the Lake District countryside before driving a boat along the water. Wearing a number of stylish jackets, trousers and trainers, the star looks sophisticated and ready for the cold winter months.

On watching the advert, fans flocked to social media - and they were left stunned but impressed. One person wrote: "Never in my life did I expect to see Roy Keane as a model for fashion. Well played whoever has managed to convince him to take part." Another said: "Keano and Adidas Spezial, it doesn't get any better." And a third added: "Legend, looks decent in the new gear."

Sharing the same sentiment, another person said: "I love this man." And a fifth simply commented:"Class." The Spezial collection is set to go on sale on November 16 via the Adidas app and includes zip jackets, a beige coat, a gold puffer jacket, outerwear trousers, t-shirts, jogging bottoms, headwear and an array of new trainers. Spezial founder Gary Aspden designed the range, much of which is made using recycled fabrics.

Reflecting on his career away from the pitch, Roy said: "I played to win from when I was eight or nine years of age. You were literally on the biggest roller coaster of your life. The highs are extreme and the lows... my goodness. But sometimes you have to lose to win."

He added: "The biggest challenge for any sportsperson is actually when your career finishes. You almost know you're never going to reach those highs again but you have to accept that. I'll never get that buzz from anything else in my life. Being in the dressing room winning stuff with good teammates and good players... oh, honestly, it really is amazing. Life's been pretty good to me in terms of my career and my family. I actually have a lot of contentment in my life. That can go sometimes but generally speaking, yeah I am pretty contented."

And while Roy enjoyed his time in front of the camera, it wasn't that long ago that he was involved in an unprovoked assault. The star was allegedly headbutted as he made his way back to the Emirates Stadium pitch last month, to analyse Manchester United's defeat at Arsenal. A member of the public allegedly assaulted the former United midfielder leading to a Police investigation. The Met Police issued a statement that said: "A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault."

Mirror Football understands that Roy was confronted by a man at the top of the West Stand as the star made his way towards a lift to take him down to the pitch-side area. The alleged incident is understood to have happened shortly after United star Alejandro Garnacho saw his goal ruled out in the 88th minute with the score 1-1, before the Gunners grabbed two late goals to secure a 3-1 triumph in front of their home fans.

Having seen Garnacho's goal ruled out, Roy and his fellow pundits, including Micah Richards, raced back to the studio to analyse the incident. As he waited for the lift to make his way down to pitch-side, he was allegedly then confronted by a fan, who, it's understood, attempted to headbutt him.
