Greggs fans have been left unimpressed after the bakery chain confirmed one of its popular Christmas items won’t be making a return this year.

The vegan version of the Festive Bake has been left off its Christmas menu, having featured in 2021 and 2022. Greggs is still selling the regular version of the Festive Bake, which contains pieces of chicken, sage and onion stuffing and bacon, covered in a sage and cranberry sauce.

Greggs fans have been reacting to the news on social media, with one person saying: “I'm boycotting @GreggsOfficial until they bring back the Vegan Festive Bake.”

Another person said: “Pls bring back the vegan Christmas bake, taaa.” A third person posted: “Gutted to see there’s no vegan festive bake this year, why??” And a fourth Greggs customer said: “I was absolutely gutted when I went into Greggs this morning and there was no Vegan Festive. I've been waiting all week for this. I'm not even a vegetarian.”

Greggs is serving a new Spicy Vegetable Curry Bake instead this year, which is made with mixed vegetables, chickpeas and rice in a spicy curry sauce with added chilies. A Greggs spokesperson said: “This year, we’ve introduced our brand-new vegan Spicy Veg Curry Bake to add a little spice to the festive season!"

"As well as this tasty new bake, our customers can enjoy a range of other vegan, festive items including our Vegan Festive Baguette and Sweet Mince Pies.” Greggs has just announced its Christmas menu, which was available from yesterday (November 9).

Another new item being introduced is the Christmas Lunch Baguette, which contains chicken breast with sage and onion, onion gravy, bacon, a cheese slice and cranberry and onion relish. These will sit alongside returning favourites including the Christmas Lunch Soup and Vegan Festive Baguette.

The Christmas Lunch Soup is made with diced smoked bacon, pork sausage, chicken, turkey, sage and onion stuffing and vegetables, blended with herbs and spices, while the Vegan Festive Baguette has sage and onion plant-based goujons, covered onion gravy and garnished with cranberry and onion relish.

In terms of drinks, Greggs is bringing out a new Orange Hot Chocolate and Orange Mocha, plus its Mint Hot Chocolate, Mint Mocha and Salted Caramel Latte will return. If you’re an iced coffee fan, the Iced Salted Caramel Latte is also coming back to menus in select stores. Finally, customers with a sweet tooth will be able to tuck into the new Chocolate Orange Muffin.
