If you're struggling to use ChatGPT today you're definitely not alone. It appears some serious gremlins are affecting the popular AI platform with thousands currently blocked from logging in and using the service.

The issues began at around 2pm and are ongoing with hundreds of reports still flooding in from users.

In fact, outage monitor Down Detector is currently showing around 1,500 reports from customers with no sign that things are being fixed.

Some reports say that when users try to access ChatGPT they are faced with a message that reads, "We're experiencing exceptionally high demand. Please hang tight as we work on scaling our systems."

Many ChatGPT fans have now rushed to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their anger with many complaining that they have been left unable to log in.

"ChatGPT is down, everybody go take an early lunch," tweeted Stephen. Whilst Mayank added: "ChatGPT is down and I am stuck with my homework. It is fascinating how much dependent we have become on AI."

Another premium subscriber, called Sanda, added: "ChatGPT down when I need it most. Why am I paying for it?"

ChatGPT has boomed in popularity since it launched late last year with millions logging in every day to help generate text and ideas.

Developed by the team at Open AI it can also be used to answer questions, write emails and even produce code for website design.

It's free to use although there is a premium version which includes bonus features such as faster response time.

There's currently no word on what is causing today's issues but we'll update this article when we hear more.
