Police issued an urgent Amber Alert after a nine-month-old baby was snatched off the street today - sparking a desperate search.

The perpetrator allegedly took off in a Volkswagen Tiguan, blue in colour, with a temporary Texas tag. Delilah Lopez was last seen at around 12.40am local time in Laredo, Texas, where she and her family live, according to the alert.

The alert stated that the baby was likely in "grave or immediate danger." Delilah weighs 15 pounds and was described as having brown hair and brown eyes.

Thankfully, the young girl was later found. The police found her and the vehicle in question on the corner of Philadelphia Street and Juarez Avenue in Laredo at around 7.10am local time, according to LMTOnline.

In a statement posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, the police said: "The child has been located. According to preliminary reports, the child appears to be unharmed and in good condition."

No further details about the recovery were made immediately apparent, including the connection between the suspect and the baby, who was snatched in the 1500 block of E Bustamante Street in Laredo, according to CBS News.

The preliminary Amber Alert didn't detail what the girl was wearing, either, but it did describe the vehicle the suspect was driving in great detail. It referred to it as a blue Volkswagen Tiguan from 2015 with a temporary Texas tag bearing the number 397 0S52. Initial reports indicated that the license plate number and model year were different.

Anyone with additional information about the incident had been asked to call the Laredo Police Department at 956-795-2800. The police are still investigating the incident and searching for more information.

The city of Laredo borders Mexico and is a little under 160 miles (257km) southwest of San Antonio. Local news outlets are reporting that they do have a suspect, but no additional information has been provided.

The Amber Alert on Wednesday comes after an American citizen went missing at a yoga retreat in Guatemala last week. The authorities are still searching for Nancy Ng, and her family is growing more desperate as other yogis at the retreat continue to stonewall the authorities and refuse to provide information about the woman's whereabouts.

It's been around two weeks since Ng went missing, and her family reportedly found out about the incident after the organisers of the retreat sent them a cryptic text. No further information has been provided to them, and the authorities continue to struggle as they dig for clues.
