Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has praised his co-star Si King for his support during his cancer treatment.
The 66-year-old TV chef revealed that King cooked him his favourite comfort food, mince and dumplings, when he was feeling unwell. Myers, who shared his diagnosis in May 2022, told BBC Breakfast: "There was one day when I was poorly and he came round to our house and made me mince and dumplings, but he does it properly."
"You know, when the bottom of the dumplings are just soft, the top of the dumplings are crusty, and I really... I remember that with mashed potato. That was lovely. There was a freezer full and that was great."
Dave praised pal Si for his help during his cancer treatmentWhen asked about his current health status, Myers said: "I'm doing all right. I'm still having treatment but everything seems stable. I've been back with my best mate on the bike, filming and doing the books and back to work."
"So it's all pretty good, actually. I'm really enjoying life at the moment." Reflecting on their long-standing friendship, King said: "It just comes naturally to us. We're good mates, we're part of each other's families."

"It's just the way we are and we don't really have to try very hard, because we like each other." We're very different people but that's what friendship is about because constantly you bring something new to the table when we see each other."
It comes after Dave heartbreakingly revealed he didn't think he would make it until Christmas after his cancer diagnosis. While he has not specified what type of cancer he has, Dave has shared that during treatment there have been times where he has been too ill to walk, unable to ride his motorcycle due to being unsteady and his hair fell out, along with his eyelashes.
Dave took some time off work in 2022 to have a gruelling 30 rounds of chemotherapy. He has since made a return to TV screens after sharing his health is now “going the right way”. The cooking duo returned to This Morning earlier last month and also made an appearance on Saturday Kitchen together.
When appearing on the show, Dave made a heartbreaking confession to host Matt Tebutt. He said: "I don’t go on about it too much, but with most Christmas specials you have to cook for somebody, but this was kind of like the Hairy Bikers best ever Christmas. Because it was the Christmas I never thought I’d be here for."
"I had to learn to walk and I had to learn to ride my motorcycle again." Sharing what it was like to be back filming on their bikes, Si said: "It was really emotional." Si carried on working alone while Dave underwent treatment. He shared: "He’s my best mate and we’ve known each other for 30 years and cooked together for 22. So you just feel a little bit odd."
