Kim Kardashian slammed by fans for fashion fail at star-studded gala

As one of the most photographed women in the world, people having an opinion on your outfit is all part of the job for Kim Kardashian.

Last night, the mum-of-four, 43, was one of many famous names who attended the LACMA Gala in Los Angeles, rubbing shoulders with Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Billie Eilish, Salma Hayek and Brad Pitt. The event, in its twelfth year and chaired by Leonardo DiCaprio, honoured artist Judy Baca and director David Fincher, whose new film, The Killer, comes to Netflix later this month.

As expected, Kim went all out with her look for the night, wearing a huge neon pink gown with an extravagant train designed by Balenciaga couture. The dress featured a plunging geometric back, and she accessorised it with a pair of contrasting black opera gloves and a diamond necklace.

But the look wasn't to everyone's liking, and a lively discussion soon began on Reddit where people offered up how they would have styled her and the dress better. One of the main complaints was that Kim didn't wear any earrings to the event.

One user said: "she doesn’t even have on earrings. I’m pretty sure this was thrown together in a rush." Another added: "I wish she had earrings. Not massive ones. Just simple things."

But the most disliked element of her outfit were the gloves. Many people commented that they would have been better in the same shade of pink, or bejewelled - although some people said they should be put back in the drawer, never to be seen again. "If she was going to wear the gloves she should have made them pink," commented one. "The gloves makes the outfit look tacky" said another.

Kim's hair, which was scraped back from her face and tied in to a half-bun also triggered derision. "I think the hair isn’t terrible, but a softer bun would have looked nice or something like a chignon," said one.

However the look did receive some compliments. "I like when they try new things. This look has something a little different going on which is nice to see imo," said one. Others echoed the sentiment, saying that they liked to see Kim embracing classic Hollywood style.
