'Unsmiling' Ben Affleck poses next to 'besotted' Jennifer Lopez at glitzy gala
Ben Affleck couldn't hide his "dislike of red carpet performances" as he posed for the cameras alongside his wife Jennifer Lopez at the LACMA Gala.
The couple rubbed shoulders with the likes of Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton at the glitzy event in Los Angeles, but one body language expert has said Ben just didn't seem happy. Judi James pointed out how he was "unsmiling", which was in complete contrast to his "besotted bride".
J-Lo looked beautiful wearing a semi-sheer gold gown which featured a lace detail on the skirt. She completed her look with nude platform heels, an attention-grabbing ruby necklace and a gold clutch bag. The actress added teardrop gold earrings and a matching bracelet.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Judi suggested Ben is actually rubbing off on his wife, who seemed more "serious" than she normally does. "For a man with his own stellar Hollywood career who has married one of the biggest stars in the music world, Ben Affleck’s body language always seems to suggest complex emotions during his PDAs and a dislike of red carpet performances," she said.
Judi continued: "Here he looks like a guy going through the motions and this time even the normally pitch-perfect Jen looks a little serious. Ben stands with his feet splayed and his chest puffed, gazing out into the distance as though thinking of something – anything - else apart from jumping through hoops to perform for the cameras."

Judi said: "His facial expression looks rigid and unsmiling but when he does look down at his wife and finally cracks a smile it is a fake-looking teeth-baring gesture that looks like he’s going through the motions rather than a warm, congruent smile of pleasure."
She said Jennifer seems to be trying to mirror Ben's body language, explaining: "Part of the problem with these poses is that Jen seems to be mirroring her husband’s level of effort here, rather than working the poses to create her normal look of a besotted bride. Her facial expression is equally unsmiling in some poses and when she does turn her head to use eye contact on Ben, her smile lacks the normal besotted beaming and adoring eye expression.
"She’s shoved one leg out of the split in her dress to add a little sexuality but these are not the actively passionate, adoring and oozing signals that we expect from Jen when she’s posing alongside Ben. He seems to have a short fuse when it comes to press photo-calls or being papped and there are clues recently that Jen might be catching his mood."
