Strictly Come Dancing fans reckoned Angela Rippon was "fuming" after receiving her critique from the judges on Saturday's show.
The Strictly Ballroom star, 79, waltzed her way around the dancefloor with pro partner, Kai Widdrington, to Nat King Cole's Fascination, but the judges gave her mixed reviews. Anton Du Beke said she was "beautiful and elegant", but noted the routine was "a little abrupt" as Craig Revel Horwood added the star's footwork was "a little wobbly". Motsi Mabuse, meanwhile, encouraged the septuagenarian to push herself more.
After hearing her critique and receiving a score of just 28 from the judges, Angela looked a little put out as viewers flocked to X, formerly Twitter, commenting on the her expression. One said: "Angela looks fuming #Strictly." Another wrote: "Wow Angela had quite the face on whilst getting judges' feedback #Strictly." While a third mused: "Angela Rippon’s face when the judges were criticising her - oh, she really didn’t like that. #strictly."

However, some viewers thought it was about time Angela was delivered some constructive criticism as they accused the judges of being too soft on her. One said: ""They're actually criticising Angela Ribbon I am SHOOK. While another echoed: "#Strictly The Judges FINALLY criticising Angela Rippon and offering her some constructive criticism. OMG i'm shook!"

Ahead of her waltz, for which she sported a fabulous blue frock, Angela told The Mirror she would be thinking of her beloved dad, John Rippon, the man she calls “the hero of my life”.
Opening up about her father, she said: “My father loved dancing and if we went to a family occasion or anywhere there was dancing, I would stand on his feet while he danced around. I think waltzing was one of the first I ever did as a little girl. My father loved dancing and my mother was not so keen, so when I was growing up, even when I was a teenager, we danced. I remember once we entered a twist competition together.”
Perhaps it was especially poignant she was thinking of him the week before Remembrance Sunday, as her dad, who died a decade ago, was a Royal Marine during the Second World War, and only returned in 1948 when Angela was three-and-a-half.
There is a photo of the newsreader meeting her father for the first time and being held in his arms on his ship when it docked near their home in Plymouth, Devon. She has, she says, “a face of sour milk” because she didn’t know him. However, that soon changed and they became devoted to each other. Speaking about her performance on Saturday, she concluded: “I want to make my dad proud every day of my life.”
