A woman serving life in prison for the murder of her children is in touch with at least six romantic partners, it has been claimed.

Susan Smith, the convicted murderer serving a life sentence for the tragic 1994 deaths of her two young children, has sparked intrigue by engaging in romantic correspondence with several men while behind bars at Leath Correctional Institution. The woman communicates with at least six romantic partners through voice and text messages while she remains incarcerated, it is claimed.

While the content of their conversations ranges from mundane topics like weather and daily life, Smith and her admirers have ventured into romantic expressions, pet names, and even sexual insinuations.

One man, in a heartfelt message, referred to her as "Dearest Pookie" and professed his deep affection, while another said he created a virtual family with her in Sims, a simulation game, naming one of the digital children after her late son, according to messages seen by the Messenger.

Expressing empathy for Smith's situation, men who communicate with Smith defended their interactions with her. One man, unfazed by her communication with others, told the Messenger, "I don't judge her. She is free to talk to anyone she wants to. I love her and want her to be happy."

Susan Smith's crime, which shocked the nation, involved her deliberately letting her car roll into a lake with her two sons, Michael, 3, and Alex, 14 months, still strapped in their car seats. After falsely claiming a Black man had carjacked her, she became a notorious figure in South Carolina history.

Convicted in 1995 of two counts of first-degree murder, Smith received a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 30 years. She becomes eligible for parole in November 2024.

Her ex-husband, David Smith, vehemently opposes her release and plans to advocate for her continued incarceration. Despite the attention from these suitors, it remains uncertain whom, if anyone, Susan Smith will choose, or if her romantic pursuits will influence her upcoming parole hearing.
