Daniel Ricciardo turned the air blue as he let out his frustration with a foul-mouthed rant after the Formula 1 Sprint race in Brazil.

AlphaTauri once again flexed their muscles and showed they have great race pace in their new and improved AT04 car. And Yuki Tsunoda was the star of the show this time, overtaking Lewis Hamilton late in the short-form race to finish sixth.

Ricciardo also looked good throughout but was empty-handed at the end, crossing the line ninth. He had been battling furiously throughout with Carlos Sainz but was unable to make any of his moves stick.

He got past the Ferrari twice at the end of the start/finish straight, but then the DRS was in Sainz's favour on the second long run of the lap and the Spaniard took the place back on both occasions.

It clearly deeply annoyed Ricciardo, who let out his frustration over the radio. "F***, f***, f***, f***," he shouted, before adding: "Sorry guys. Yep, it's that f***ing DRS into turn two. You pass in one and you just get f***ed. It's impossible. Anyway, I'll shut up. Sorry guys."

He wore his trademark smile again as he faced reporters just a few minutes later. But the frustration he felt was still evident as he rued what might have been.

"Fun, but also frustrating," was his verdict of the Sprint. "As you said, we had what looked like... everyone was struggling, well, most people in terms of the tyres. The asphalt here, it's bad. Everyone is fighting the car but we seemed to be fighting it a little bit less than Carlos in front of us.

"So I completed a move on him at least twice, maybe more. But the DRS line with the second detection is at turn two so, every time I passed at one, I basically waved him back past before turn four. So that was extremely frustrating.

"I didn't feel I could do much more. I went for it but never got rewarded. So I was fighting and in a battle there for quite a few laps and that allowed Oscar [Piastri] and a few others behind us to start closing in. And then, yeah, I left the door open in turn eight and that's my fault.

"We lost a few laps behind Oscar, got him back and then caught Carlos again. With a lap to go we were right on his a***. Lewis and Carlos, both of them were half-a-second ahead and ninth on a Saturday is the world's worst position, so there are pros and cons. There are things I want to be able to do better but, all in all, not the worst day."
