Emma Hayes is set to leave Chelsea Women after a hugely successful spell with the Blues and will depart at the end of the season.

The London club announced on Saturday afternoon that she would be leaving at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. They also hinted that an international job was potentially on offer for Hayes.

A club statement at the weekend read: "Chelsea FC can today confirm that highly decorated Chelsea Women’s manager Emma Hayes OBE will depart the club at the end of the season to pursue a new opportunity outside of the WSL and club football."

Hayes, 47, has been a pivotal figure at the club since her initial arrival in 2012. She has won six Women's Super League titles, five Women's FA Cups, two FA Women's League Cup and the Community Shield.

Hayes also has a host of personal accolades to her name. She has been named the FA WSL Manager of the Season six times and also the LMA WSL Manager of the Season on five occasions.

“Given everything she has contributed to Chelsea in over a decade with the club, and the legacy she leaves behind, we would never stand in her way when she felt it was the right time to pursue a new challenge.

“We are pleased that she will remain with the club for the remainder of the season to give us the time to identify her successor.

“There will be plenty of time to celebrate Emma’s many achievements at the club and to give her the farewell she deserves, but for now, as she always has been, Emma will be solely focused on making this season as successful as possible for Chelsea.”

Elsewhere, chairman Todd Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali offered kind words to Hayes. They said: “Emma’s contribution to Chelsea cannot be understated. She has been a pioneer in women’s football and is hugely respected within the game. We look forward to continuing to work together over the coming months.”

Hayes will aim to round off her Chelsea stint with yet more silverware. The Blues currently sit top of the WSL after four wins from their opening five games of the campaign.

They have also been drawn to face Real Madrid, BK Hacken and Paris FC in the Champions League group stages. Chelsea reached the semi-finals of the competition last term but were eliminated by Barcelona.
