Emmerdale viewers think Sam Dingle could be left to take the blame for a murder after his arrest on Friday night on the ITV soap.

Sam found himself being taken away by the police in the fallout to his murder confession, which he was doing his best to keep under wraps. The cracks are starting to show, with the Dingles keen for Sam not to spill the beans after he believed he had murdered Lydia Dingle's rapist Craig.

Sam had beaten him up, and believed his attack may have killed Craig after he repeatedly hit and kicked him. What he has no idea about is that after this attack, something else happened that killed Craig.

Two characters are currently covering up the true events that led to Craig's death, and they are allowing Sam to believe he killed him by accident. Cain Dingle believed there was no evidence to get Sam caught out, which is why he's hiding the fact it was actually Kim Tate's horse that fatally injured Craig.

In a huge twist of events, the horse kicked Craig after he was spooked by Craig grabbing Kim. Cain saw the incident and told her not to call for help. After she let her horse run off to protect him, she felt she had no option but to leave Craig to die as Cain threatened to expose what had happened.

Of course the pair have not told anyone what happened, with Sam confessing to all of the Dingles about his attack on Craig. But the family's attempts to stop Sam confessing to the police did not go to plan, and on Friday night we saw him finally spill the beans.

After initially lying to detectives, they returned to his house to claim that DNA not belonging to the victim was found on the body. It all got too much for Sam who admitted to punching Craig, but he said he did not kill him.

Sam pleaded his innocence and said Craig was alive when he left him, but the police arrested him and took him away. Of course this means that Sam is being accused of a crime he has no idea he did not commit, with the episode ending with Cain staying silent as Sam was led away.

But will Cain really allow his brother to be accused of the crime, and will he be framed? Viewers think he might, taking to Twitter to slam the character for watching on as Sam was led away.

One tweeted: "Looks as though Cain would rather see brother Sam go down for Craig’s murder." Another said: "I think Cain is out of order if he going to let Lydia and Sam think that Sam killed Craig."

Other viewers slammed Lydia for failing to support her husband. One fan said: "Disappointed in Lydia for being a flake on Sam. Sam has always supported Lydia yet when he needed her most she abandoned him," as another said: "It's a shame #Lydia did'nt support #Sam a bit more like he did for her."
