Khloé Kardashian has been called out for “blackfishing” with her Bratz doll Halloween costume.
The 39-year-old took to social media to share snaps from a photoshoot alongside sister Kim Kardashian and pals Olivia Pierson and Natalie Halcro, as she revealed what her costume was for the spooky holiday. The Good American founder posed in a yellow patterned mini dress with a white shirt underneath, and looked almost unrecognisable as she tried to imitate the doll.
The Kardashians star finished off her outfit with a platinum blonde wig, which cascaded down to her thighs, and clutched a handbag with the Bratz logo embellished on the front. However, her attempt to dress like one of the iconic dolls was heavily criticised by her followers, with many pointing out that her skin tone was “10 times darker” than normal.

“Why is she three shades darker than usual?” one commented, as another claimed the mum-of-two wanted to “be black sooooooo bad.” The debate raged on in the comments, as Khloe was accused of “blackfishing”, which is a term used to describe when white people - including celebrities and influencers - use makeup or tanning to appear black.

“Black fishing periodddd,” one fired. “Black fishing heaux,” another agreed, as one added: “Girl who the hell is this, you’re not even recognizable.” Other members of the group, including Skims founder Kim, weren’t criticised for their outfit, even though it appears they’re all wearing the same amount of heavy make-up to complete the look.
But when Kim also shared snaps of her Halloween ensemble, Khloe was targeted by the mum-of-four’s followers too. “I don’t recognize Khloe,” one user commented, prompting some of The Kardashians’ loyal fans to defend her, with a follower replying that her complexion was “literally a costume.”

Back in August, when Kylie Jenner launched her limited-edition Bratz doll collection, she was accused of altering her own skintone. “The fact that the Kylie Bratz dolls are brown are weird asf. That girl is white asf,” one fumed. “Giving Kylie (a white woman who modeled her face/body around Black women) her own Bratz doll (which is an arguably more Urban/Black presenting doll) before an ACTUAL Black woman is… weird,” another fired.
