Matthew Perry's death is being investigated by robbery homicide police, despite there being no signs of foul play.
On Saturday afternoon, the former Friends star died aged 54 after he was found unconscious in his Los Angeles home. Emergency responders came to his home after receiving a call at 4:07 p.m that the star had suffered a cardiac arrest. However, once they arrived, they reportedly found the star dead in his hot tub.
The actor was reported to have returned home following a round of pickleball and sent his assistant out on an errand shortly thereafter, but was found unresponsive when the aide returned home just two hours later, prompting her to call for help.
As he was found underwater, he appeared to have drown but no official cause of death has been made yet, as an initial autopsy was "deferred" while the state performs a toxicology report. Investigators said there were no illegal drugs were found at his home although prescription drugs were. It is standard procedure for the LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division to investigate high-profile cases including famous actors, according to TMZ.

Matthew's high profile death case is being investigated further (Getty Images for GQ)A spokesperson for the LAFD broke down the emergency call and told The Mirror: "Captain Adam Van Gerpen told The Mirror: "Los Angeles City Firefighters responded to the 18000 block of West Blue Sail Drive at 4:07 PM on October 28, 2023, to find an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub. A bystander had brought the man's head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then Firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival. A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival. The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner. We mourn with families and friends who lose a loved one unexpectedly."
The famous actor was most well-known for playing his beloved character Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends. He is also an accomplished author who helped many through his openness revolving his struggle with addiction in his book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir.
Since his tragic death many to knew and loved Matthew have shared heartfelt tributes including his famous co-stars from Friends. In a joint statement, the cast told People: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family," they continued: "There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
