'My entitled sister-in-law copied my engagement ring - she's always hated me'
A woman saw red upon discovering that her sister-in-law had copied her engagement ring. Twinning wasn’t winning when she spotted the wife of her husband’s twin brother wearing the exact same band as her.
“I’m trying not to get p***ed off. My sister-in-law has always hated me. From the moment I got with my husband… she has always hated me. The first thing she ever said to me was, ‘I’m the longest-lasting girlfriend,’ and since that day there has been this weird unspoken competition, where she is always trying to belittle me, make me fall small and insecure,” the woman wrote on Reddit.
“She’s bragged about seeing my husband naked before, she’s made comments about my [own] sister’s marriage unnecessarily – she’s just jealous or something, and always has something to say to demean me. She [also] goes and changes into outfits that match mine and literally copies me in everything.”
However, the in-law took it a step too far this time with the ring-spiration. “Me and my husband got married recently and he brought me a new ring because of our new journey in life, because we had grown so much. And then I went to my mum-in-law’s house to celebrate someone’s birthday, and she here’s with my husband’s twin,” she recalled.

“I look at her, and she’d copied my ring – exactly. My husband bought me a new five-carat pear rose gold, double-halo, and she has the exact same thing. I am so, so, so f***ing angry… I am trying to contain myself because it’s not a big deal and it’s just materialistic things, but I’m fuming.”
The woman added: “Why this upsets me is because she has been bullying me since I got into the family, and it’s annoying for me to share a ring with someone who has been bullying me for so long, on top of the fact that I personally believe your engagement and wedding right should be unique to your relationship.”
She doesn’t know whether to “confront her or just leave it”, but is considering having her ring customized, continuing: “Not sure if I want to do it or not, I’d just like to have something original and my own.” One Reddit user advised, “Never feed into her crap, ignore her and move on,” while another quipped: “Imitation is the sincerest for flattery, let her know how you think it’s beautiful that she thinks so much of you to imitate you.”
