Matthew Perry was believed to be single at the time of his shock death but his personal assistant made a call to an 'unrelated woman' in the moments after they found his body

Matthew Perry's assistant alerted an "unrelated woman" about his death after calling emergency services and his family.

Matt's personal assistant left the 54-year-old actor alone at his home in Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles for just two hours while they picked up a new iPhone for him and some prescription glasses. When they returned to the home they found him unresponsive in the jacuzzi and called 911.

Emergency responders received a call at 4:07 p.m that the star had suffered a cardiac arrest and arrived to find the star dead in his hot tub. After alerting the emergency services, the assistant called Perry's mother Suzanne and one of his siblings. But then they made a fourth call to a woman who is unrelated to the Friends star, sources told TMZ.

The actor is believed to have been single and focussed on his sobriety at the time of his death, having endured a rocky love life in his younger years. On top of his unrequited crush on co-star Jennifer Aniston, Matthew is rumoured to have dated a string of big names in the past, including Yasmine Bleeth and Julia Roberts, and also suffered the disappointment of a failed engagement.

Matthew was engaged to literary manager Molly Hurwitz in 2020. Sharing his joy with People magazine, Matthew hailed her "the greatest woman on the face of the planet." Sadly, they split just seven months later. In a statement released to People, the Friends star said: "Sometimes things just don't work out and this is one of them, I wish Molly the best."

Matthew once shared the heartbreaking reason he never settled down, admitting he was plagued by intrusive thoughts and fears whenever he was involved with someone. "I break up with them because I'm deathly afraid that they will find out that I'm not enough, that I don't matter, and that I'm too needy, and they'll break up with me," he told GQ magazine ahead of the release of his autobiography.

Determined to stay sober, he explained that he couldn't risk putting his emotions on the line as a split would "annihilate me and I’ll have to take drugs and that will kill me. That's why I break up with these wonderful women that have crossed my path," he added.
