King Charles has hit a major road-block as he tries to change his charity’s name to fit his new title. Charles wants to change the name of his charity from The Prince's Foundation to The King's Foundation but he is seriously struggling as another charity already has this name.

The current King has asked a charity to hand over its name in his efforts to turn around the reputation of his organisation which has previously garnered controversy. The Scottish charity regulator continues to conduct an investigation into Charles' foundation over historic donations from foreign business magnates. However, Metropolitan Police dropped its own investigation into the 'cash for honours' allegations.

The King’s Foundation already exists, as a well-established Sheffield-based charity, formed in 1999. Its mission is “To educate and assist young people through their leisure time activities so as to develop their physical, mental & spiritual capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals & members of society & that their condition of life may be improved.”

A source told the MailOnline: “They want to turn the charity around. It has been made more difficult by the fact that there is already a charity called The King's Foundation so the Royal charity has been forced to go to the other one and ask if they can have the name for themselves. It is all a bit awkward. The charity is emboldened by the fact that it is out of the woods but the name change debacle is a little embarrassing, to say the least.”

King Charles now hopes to turn the fate of the charity by using celebrities to clean up his image. The Mail on Sunday reported that David and Victoria Beckham have accepted an invitation to the work carried out by Charles's charity.

Equally, actress Sienna Miller is reportedly in talks to become a charity representative after she had a secret dinner with the King. More recently, his charity received a grant from Mail Force, to provide food vouchers and places for 900 Ukrainian children on activity lists.

Better known as the Kings Active Foundation, the charity which Charles looks to take the name of, is registered on official documents as 'The King's Foundation', a title for which it has held the copyright since 2019. There were no financial offers from the King but some sources say the original King's Foundation is “happy to help”.

“Assuming it goes in this direction [from Prince's to King's Foundation],” a source told the Mail Online, “It would be a significant vote of confidence in the future of the charity, 'It looks like it's going to be renamed, which would suggest that the chapter of the past is now closed.'

The Mirror has contacted The Prince's Foundation for comment.
