A model who was found dead and stuffed in a refrigerator while two months pregnant had suffered blunt force traumatic injuries and her death was 'homicidal violence, an autopsy report has found.

The Los Angeles Police Department's murder investigation into the death of Maleesa Mooney found that she had been beaten and bound before being stuffed into her own refrigerator.

Mooney was killed on September 12 in her downtown LA apartment. At the time of her sudden death, Maleesa was two months pregnant. Her family originally called the police for a wellness check after they noticed her text messages turned from blue to green on iMessage, indicating that her phone was offline.

"The blunt force traumatic injuries observed at autopsy are generally not considered acutely life-threatening on their own," the medical examiner wrote in the autopsy report. "However, based on the circumstances of how Ms Mooney was found, these injuries suggest she was likely involved in a violent physical altercation prior to her death." Therefore, it is "uncertain" what role drugs or alcohol may have played in her death, if any, the report reads.

Her cousin, Bailey Bobb, said that she had abruptly stopped answering her phone for an entire week, which caused concern for her family. Bailey told KTLA last month: "When a week went by, we just knew something was off. Her messages weren't delivering, and we knew something was up because we all have a special relationship with Maleesa."

Previously, after the tragic update about Maleesa's cause of death, her famous sister Jourdin told KTLA: "It’s honestly so stressful. I have thousands and thousands of scenarios in my head of what could have happened because we don’t know.” It's possible that the autopsy results could shed some light on the hours right before Maleesa's death.

Jourdin said that she is frustrated that she still doesn't know who is responsible for her sister's death as no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still ongoing. She told the news outlet: "This person is still out there, and the police are not telling us anything,” she continued: "What is the holdup? What did the guys see? Can you share it with us? Suspects? Surveillance video that you do have? Show us something, tell us something so we can look out for it.”

Maleesa's body was found two days after another model, Nichole Coats, was also discovered dead in her downtown luxury Los Angeles apartment, sparking fears that a serial killer was on the loose in the area. But according to NBC News, investigators do not believe the two deaths are related.

Police are asking those with information connected to Maleesa's murder to contact LAPD detectives Pierce or Marcinek at 213-996-4150 or to submit an anonymous tip online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.
