Giovanni's last message to Amanda Abbington after shock Strictly exit
After Strictly Come Dancing contestant Amanda Abbington quit the BBC competition earlier this week, her professional partner Giovanni Pernice is allegedly left "worrying for his future career." The Sherlock actor, 49, said her reason for leaving the show prematurely was "personal," which ended her Italian professional partner's hopes of lifting the Glitterball Trophy.
While rumours have swirled about a rift between the pair, the dancer did admit his sadness over her departure, writing on Instagram on Tuesday: "I am so sad we can't continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love." Speculation circled prior to Amanda leaving that she was not happy with Giovanni's "militant and aggressive" behaviour in rehearsals.
A source had later said that: "Giovanni is a very hard taskmaster and takes the competition very, very seriously." Allegedly some of the training techniques were "incredibly brusque" which could sometimes "upset his partners". The two stars appeared to brush off those rumours, however, as they appeared together on It Takes Two.
Amanda (left) rocked the BBC show by quitting on Monday (BBC)"It honestly looks like you two are having the best time, getting along like a house on fire in rehearsals right?," Janette Manrara asked the pair. Amanda replied: "Yeah we are, we are! We do and we laugh a lot, we have the same sense of humour which is really important. So we'll come out, work hard, and then we just laugh don't we."
Now, according to sources, Giovanni has been venting his frustration to his friends, and worries the "drama" will have a negative impact on his career. A source told the Daily Star: "This has really annoyed him. He's barely heard from her for 10 days. She hasn’t been replying to messages or telling him what’s happening. He’s been complaining about it to friends. He’s frustrated."

The insider added: "He is worried the drama will be damaging for his career and make him look bad." It comes after Amanda pulled out of last Saturday's live show due to 'medical reasons' before releasing a full statement on Tuesday about her dramatic exit. Talking to fans directly on her Instagram account, Amanda wrote: "It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue. It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.
"I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It’s a wonderful bunch of people and I’ll miss all of them. I’m so sad that I am unable to go any further. Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you. xxx."
Unlike many of Giovanni's co-stars and the celebrity castmates, he has made the decision not to reply to Amanda's post publicly. The likes of Gorka Marquez, Annabel Croft and even host Claudia Winkleman all shared messages of support - but so far Giovanni has chosen not to respond.
