I made a spooky Halloween Rumtini and it's easier than it looks

Halloween is around the corner and with it comes the urge to get dressed up and put spider related things pretty much everywhere. But it also is the time to experiment with cocktails, and that's just what I did.

I got my hands on Kraken and decided to have a go at one of their spooky cocktail recipes. I decided to make the Espresso Rumtini which only needs three ingredients.

First I measured out a double shot of Kraken to a cocktail shaker, which I followed with the same amount of brewed coffee and 5ml of syrup. It was recommended to use a classic sugar syrup but since I've been liking Starbuck's Salted Maple & Caramel Latte so much I decided to go with maple syrup instead.

I then shook it up with ice, now I probably should have shaken it for longer until it was ice cold but I decided not to. If you shake it for longer you'll get more of the rich foam associated with espresso martinis, but be warned your hands will end up very cold. If you don't want the foam then shake it for less time for a spooky ghostly design on top.

It's best to chill your martini glass, I'd recommend filling it with crushed ice and water to do this as that's what I did when I was a bartender, and then you are going to want to strain your cocktail into the glass. It's best to double strain it through a fine strainer to make sure there are no ice chips ruining the texture of your drink.

Then it's time to garnish, a traditional garnish is 3 espresso beans but I leaned right into the Halloween theme with a Black Fungus Mushroom balancing on the rim of my glass. The end result is a little sweeter than a classic espresso martini but that's to be expected with a sugar based spirit.

I think this is really easy to make and is a great way to impress guests this Halloween.

Ingredients: Kraken Rum, Espresso, Syrup.

1. Add 50ml Kraken Rum, 50ml Espresso and 5ml syrup to a cocktail shaker.

2. Add ice. Chill your martini glass at this point.

3. Shake until the shaker turns cold if you want foam, for less if you don't.

4. Empty martini glass.

5. Strain cocktail into glass.

6. Add garnish and enjoy!

Please remember to drink responsibly.
