Justin Timberlake was salty following his split from ex-girlfriend Britney Spears in the early 2000s.
The pair dated for three years before heir split in 2002, which was reportedly because Justin had found out about Britney's affair with dancer Wade Robson, which she confirms in her book, The Woman In Me, released earlier this week. In the tell-all memoir, Britney reveals the apparent dark secrets of their relationship, including a secret abortion she had after she fell pregnant with Justin's child.
She said they had originally been "magnetic," but their relationship soon took a turn for the worst and in March 2002 the relationship was finished. She claims that he dumped her with a brutal two-word text message, leaving her heartbroken. She was recording the video for Overprotected when she opened the message, which simply read 'It's over!!'.
The Toxic hitmaker admitted she fantasised about quitting show business after she was dumped as she was so heartbroken. In her memoir, Britney slammed the media for portraying her as a "harlot who'd broken the heart of America's golden boy."

However, at the time, once their relationship was over, Justin didn't hold back and took any opportunity he could to shade his ex-girlfriend.
Justin's revenge hit Cry Me a River was released in 2002, shortly after he and Britney had broken up, and the song was widely thought to be about their split, as Justin alluded to the pop icon’s alleged infidelity. In the now infamous video, he can be seen serenading a Britney lookalike as she walks through a property that was thought to resemble the home they shared together during their three-year relationship.
The Toxic hitmaker was stunned by Justin’s video, and revealed he spoke to her about it before it was released, but didn't tell her just how scathing the music video would be. “He called me up and behind it was, 'And by the way, you’re in a video that’s coming out. Don’t worry about it. It’s not a big deal,’” she told Rolling Stone.
“So the record label called and said, 'If you want to change this, you can.' I had the power to say no to the video. But I didn’t, because I thought, 'Hey, it’s your video.' I hadn’t seen it,” Britney explained. “Then it came out, and I said, 'I should’ve freakin’ said no to this s**t!” I was so like, 'Woah. What is going on right now?'”

Justin continued: "The world has always been full of Madonna wannabes, and I might have even dated a couple."
In 2013, he referred to Britney in a Saturday Night Live sketch about his ancestors’ wishes for their descendants. Speaking about his own career from the perspective of his ancestors, he said: “He’ll date a popular female singer. Publicly they’ll claim to be virgins, but privately, he’ll hit it."

And finally, at a 2007 concert, while Britney was in a rehabilitation centre for her mental problems and addictions, Justin alluded to her more indirectly during a performance of Cry Me A River. He ended the song with the chorus of Amy Winehouse’s hit Rehab.
