Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently returned from a luxurious getaway to the Caribbean, in a bid to 'fix their marriage' and 'reignite their spark'.

The couple, who married in a lavish ceremony in Windsor in 2018, took the trip without their two children, son Archie and daughter Lilibet. The couple flew by private jet from New Jersey to the Caribbean island Canouan, and then onto Atlanta in Georgia with the trip hoping to help their marriage, which has reportedly been 'under strain' lately.

The couple enjoyed the exotic getaway at the swanky resort of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines, which included sight seeing, sunbathing and snorkelling for the former royal couple.

A source told Heat magazine: "The trip was very much Harry's idea. He wanted to whisk Meghan away for some couple time, and try to reignite the spark between them."

The source added: "They spent time relaxing and it was great for them. The purpose of the trip was also to figure out a plan moving forward."

They continued the former royal couple are keen to "avoid couples' therapy" and were hoping the holiday could "give them a chance to have some fun". The trip came with a packed itinerary as they holidayed in Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines, both of which are regularly visited by the likes of Amal and George Clooney, Robert Downey Jr., Amy Schumer, Mark Walhberg and Leonardo DiCaprio. Accommodation on the island includes the Canouan Estate Resort and Villas, the Mandarin Oriental, and the Soho Beach House Canouan. Rooms at the lavish resorts start at $837 (£686) and rise to more than $9000-a-night (£7,300).

Harry and Meghan were spotted wandering hand in hand as well as enjoying time on the island, which is famed for being a honeymoon destination.

The source confirmed to Heat magazine that the trip was a success with the couple having fun and making time for "deep talks" to iron out issues. However, a body language expert has said their closeness on holiday has been replaced by a "separated look" one they returned home and "showed signs of tension". Judi James explained: "There's no sign of any lingering post-holiday glow from Meghan's body language here and that romantic, idyllic hand-in-hand pose we saw from Harry and Meghan as they strolled through deserted streets seems to have been replaced by a more separated look as Meghan rushes ahead across the tarmac, leaving Harry to chat to someone as he trails behind."

James added: "Meghan's unsmiling facial expression and her directive pointing suggest tension here and a desire to rush into the car. Harry appears to be in less of a rush although the way both his elbows are raised as he walks could suggest some matching inner tension here."
