Alisson believes that Liverpool are still lacking consistency despite their impressive start to the season.

After a disappointing 2022/23 campaign, Jurgen Klopp made big changes to his team over the summer including a complete midfield overhaul. A new-look engine room, led by the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, has helped reinvigorate the Reds, who have lost just one of their opening nine Premier League games.

After missing out on silverware last year, Liverpool 2.0 look well-equipped to mount a title challenge this time around. However, Alisson is adamant that there is still plenty more to come from himself and the rest of his teammates.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, the Brazilian goalkeeper said: "I think we are in a good way but we are just at the beginning of it. Time-wise we are only three months from the start of the rebuilding of this team and this is a really short time to say we've reached our highest level.

"So I think we have so many spaces for improvement, but that doesn't mean the team is bad - it's the opposite. We are doing really well in games and doing really good things, but I think we are lacking consistency so far.

"We have to improve to get more of it and defensively we can improve more. Consistency means we have to play the full game doing the good stuff defensive-wise and offensive-wise."

Saturday's 2-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby - courtesy of a late Mohamed Salah double - means Liverpool are just three points behind a resurgent Tottenham at the Premier League summit.

Alisson has regularly challenged for the title since joining Liverpool back in 2018. And after watching from the sidelines last year as Manchester City and Arsenal battled it out, Alisson is excited by the Reds' evolution and what it could mean for their season.

He continued: "The team has changed a lot. When I first arrived here, in the first three seasons the team was pretty much the same. Not many players came in, but after the first season, some players started to go. That didn't affect the way we played too much, but it has changed more after last season.

"More players left the club and more players came in so I think that changed a little bit the way that we play. Now we look more of a team that likes to keep the ball more - more of a possession team, but still with quick strikers, quick transitions.

"Sometimes we can play really good on the counter-attack as well and we still like to press high. So we've changed, but at the same time the strength that we had in the past is in the manager's idea. He's kept that and tries to bring that to this rebuilt team."
