Cristiano Ronaldo taunted by Wrexham star in behind-closed-doors friendly
Wrexham defender Aaron Hayden could not resist taunting an onlooking Cristiano Ronaldo by mimicking the superstar's signature celebration after netting against Manchester United.
The centre-back has had a surprising knack when it comes to getting his name on the scoresheet for the Red Dragons, notching 20 times in three seasons. However, one of his most memorable strikes for the North Wales outfit came behind-closed-doors during a friendly against Premier League giants United in 2022.
As Denmark international Christian Eriksen made his unofficial debut for the Red Devils, Wrexham raced into a shock lead after just 60 seconds. Continuing his rich vein of form in front of goal, it was centre-half Hayden who dispatched the ball home before peeling away in jubilant celebration.
Now, it has been revealed that the former Carlisle United star then seized his opportunity to perform the famous 'Sui' celebration - with its pioneer Ronaldo agonisingly watching on from the sidelines. According to Hayden's then-teammate Jake Hyde, the Wrexham players could simply not believe what they had witnessed.

Sharing the amusing anecdote on the 'RobRyanRed Podcast', Hyde revelled in giving his own account of a moment that he and his Wrexham colleagues will never forget. The striker, who now turns out for Yeovil Town, admitted that the rumours about this bizarre tale were completely true, saying: "That's a fact, I can confirm!
"Ronaldo [was] stood there, watching the game from the side. So Ronaldo witnessed this himself. Azza (Aaron) did what he does; he got above someone from a corner, and he scored after one minute.
"And he ran off into the corner; all the boys were jogging behind him to congratulate him. He ran off and just went, 'Siuuuuu!'. All the boys were like, 'Oh my god, what have I just seen?'. He was buzzing with himself. One of the memorable things I've witnessed."
Former Wrexham star Jake Hyde has recalled an amusing story involving Cristiano RonaldoReflecting on the experience, he also revealed how he was left in awe as he came up against World Cup winner and former Real Madrid stalwart Rafael Varane during the friendly. He recalled: "That was a great experience. I think I played 30 minutes in the Manchester United game.
"A fantastic experience and something that comes with the calibre of the club Wrexham are striving to be. I came on, and we had a goal kick, and Varane was playing.I'm just standing there looking at him, saying, 'This guy has won the World Cup'.
Hyde added: "I won the header, and then Varane went off, and I was just like, '100 per cent record; what more can I do there? So that was nice. To be honest, they were a cut above, but they were always going to be. It was just nice to see that in real life."
