Jonnie Irwin shared a quick sneak peek of his latest work project on social media after returning to TV work following his terminal cancer diagnosis.

Former A Place In The Sun presenter, who revealed in November last year that a tumour in his lung had spread to his brain, took to his Instagram to share a video of himself during a recording session in a studio for BBC Newcastle. He rocked headphones as he sat in front of a microphone and a computer.

Captioning the post, he said: "Recorded the VO for the two short films we made for @bbcmorninglive. Chose not to take electric bike which was a mistake. I dusted off the push bike and soon realised the studios were up long climb (for me). Anyway I was a bit late but home now and glad of the exercise."

Fans were delighted at his return to work and took to the comment section to write: "The fact you got and smashed the chest infection, proves how strong & resilient you are my friend !! Brilliant News," while one user said: "You look so well Jonnie. Lovely to see you' got over your chest infection. Sending love and light to you and your family." [sic]

Another follower commented: "There are so many of us behind you Jonnie, hats off to you and your lovely wife." One posted: "Jonnie you are looking so well keep it up." It comes after Jonnie provided an update on his treatment for the chest infection he had.

He took to his Instagram to share a photo of himself 'relaxing' in a Salt Room as he underwent treatment for the infection. Jonnie also shared a picture of the completely empty room as he enjoyed some time to himself. "Hitting my chest infection from all sides; antibiotics (I tried to ride it out but was getting worse) 2 hours this morning in my @o2worx hyperbaric chamber and now down at @sereniti_health breathing deeply in the Salt Room," he captioned the carousel of photos.

"So relaxing and got this place to myself! All wrapped up and relaxed. I feel I’ve got some great and knowledgeable people around me atm. #saltylips #alternativetherapies #healthspa #healthandwellness."

The brave father-of-three was given just six months to live after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2020, but he has continued to defy the odds and regularly shares health updates with his 225,000 Instagram followers. Recently, Jonnie took to the platform to post an image of himself working in Newcastle for BBC Morning Live, much to the delight of his fans.

"So good to be back filming for @bbcmorninglive," he wrote. "We’ve just shot to short films about renovating your home and what to look out for. I think my smug smile betrays the lack of a massive commute for once and the extra couple of hours I got in my scratcher as we filmed in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I’ll let you know when they are due to go out, when I know myself."
