Britney Spears has reacted to the backlash over her new memoir and is already planning a second book before The Woman in Me has been released.
The 41-year-old has withdrawn from the spotlight as she prepares for her hotly-anticipated book to hit the shelves on Tuesday, and excerpts from the memoir have already caused shockwaves. The Toxic hitmaker promised to expose the reality of her life in the spotlight in her upcoming memoir, and it seems that nobody is safe as she writes about her relationship with ex Justin Timberlake, and her secret abortion.
However, Britney was taken aback by the backlash she’s received on social media, as she was targeted by fans of the former *NSYNC star who hit back at her claims about their relationship. The singer said she fell pregnant during her three-year relationship with Justin, and had an abortion as he told her he wasn’t ready to be a father, despite Britney wanting to keep the baby.

“My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means! That was me then… that is in the past! I don’t like the headlines I am reading… that’s exactly why I quit the business four years ago!” she wrote.
“Most of the book is from 20 years ago… I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here! I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life! Either way, that is the last of it and s**t happens!” Britney explained.
She hit out at the backlash she's received (WireImage)She told her followers and fans that she had hoped people would find comfort in her book, and relate to some of the experiences she’s had over the years. “This is actually a book I didn’t know needed to be written… although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future!”
Britney continued: “Hopefully I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood! Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences, which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly! I have moved on since then!”
According to Good Morning America, Britney has a “second book in the works”, and the singer is hopeful her first book will give her the “closure” she needs after a turbulent decade. In the last three years alone, the singer has had her long-standing conservatorship quashed, wed and divorced Sam Asghari, and suffered a devastating miscarriage.
