When it comes to decorating our homes, it all comes down to personal taste and whether you're more of a minimalist or if you like to keep small little keepsakes and trinkets, at the end of the day it's your personal space and choice.
However, one woman was left gobsmacked when she came home to find her mother-in-law had donated contents of her home to charity - and told her that her house was too "cluttered" and "dangerous" for her baby. Fuming that she'd taken it upon herself to clear out her home, the woman shared how the pair had very different interior design styles.
Admitting that her home is "stuffed" compared to her mother-in-law who lives "surgically clean", she didn't expect her home to be cleared out, and she and her husband were left "furious". Sharing her and her mother-in-law had a good relationship, she lost it when she returned home, describing her home as a "warzone."
"I have a decent relationship with my mother-in-law… she's quite sweet and warm. She is, however, a little… over-controlling? Overprotective? I'm not sure of the exact word, but she has very strong ideas about things and no sense of boundaries," She wrote in a Reddit post, reports the Metro.
As she revealed in her post she's pregnant, her excited mother-in-law had come to stay to help them get ready for the baby. Admitting that she likes to collect items such as books, sculptures, and baskets, she described her house as "definitely overstuffed" but "reasonably tidy" and explained: "My mother-in-law, on the other hand, likes everything surgically clean."

One day when she returned home from work, she discovered her mother-in-law had donated several bags of her belongings to charity and that her house looked like a "warzone" and when she confronted her, she was told that her house was "cluttered and dangerous" to which at this point she lost it.
The post further detailed: "I kind of lost it, and I told her she could get out right now. She was shocked that I was serious, and she said she doesn't have anywhere to go and it's so late. It was about 9:30. I booked her a hotel room and called a taxi," and shared her husband was equally as furious with his mum.
Asking others online for their opinion on who was in the wrong, the woman realised she had many people on her side. One Reddit user wrote: "What your [mother-in-law] did crossed every line for a guest in anyone's home, and, in fact, you could make a very good case for theft of your belongings," while another added: "This is utter disrespect from her and I would make her compensate or try to bring back everything she got rid of."
The woman then added to her post that some of the items that were donated to charity were several paintings, pillows, dishes, collectable rocks, and a box of books which angered Redditors even further. "Get rid of my books, and we'll be fighting," one commented. Another pointed out: "The most frustrating thing about this for anyone who collects things like books, movies, music, etc, is never really being able to know what was lost."
