Strictly's Adam Thomas quit alcohol after his twin brother and former Love Island contestant Scott got sober and reaped the benefits. The actor, who played Adam Barton in Emmerdale, saw the positive impact the decision made on his sibling and decided to attempt it for himself, despite two failed tries before.
Adam made the bold move after fearing that he had started drinking for the wrong reasons. When he finally made his choice, the actor, who is also a I'm a Celebrity finalist from 2016 wrote on Instagram: "Ok so I've been pondering on the idea for quite some time now.
"Not that I’m an alcoholic but I do love a tipple now and then ... but not for enjoyment anymore which is the scary bit, but more for escape from the stress and worries of life itself."

He said: "I've tried a few times to do it before, but this time I wanted to just put it out there, just so I know I've got to stick to it this time."
"I know it’s not going to be easy but it will be worth it ... well it better had be." Twin Scott shared his joy for Adam's announcement commenting: ""Wow didn't expect this on a Monday night!" he replied with a love heart emoji. "So proud of you my brother let's do this together! Twin power xxx"

Scott also shared a heartwarming video on his Instagram and said the opportunity helped him reach his full potential after 'operating on half a tank.'
"I would never in my life last year envisage being sober for eight months," he said. "I feel weird when I say that, as if I was an alcoholic, because I don't necessarily think I was. I think the whole reason I wanted to stop drinking was because I wanted to reach my potential and I wanted to operate at my best.
"I wasn't drinking every day or every week. I'd even just drink once a month, but there was underlying sense for me that I wasn't reaching my potential and I was wasting time and it really was getting to me."
He added: "Life now is so much more productive. It's gone the complete other way. I've literally become addicted to self development. I'm learning something new every single day, I'm pushing myself to my limits every single day."
But Scott doesn't shy away from the hardships that his decision had on him. "You never get away from yourself. I used to escape all the time, it was escapism for me," he said.
"Now you're with yourself all the time, getting to know yourself and sometimes it can be tough. But also I feel that's where the most growth takes place because you really get to think about what you want from life, what you want and where you're going."
