Every parent will have experienced the moment their child says something to them that cuts deep - or remember back to a time they said something to their own parents just to hurt them in the moment, but they probably didn't mean. But one mum didn't think she'd have to deal with such things yet, after her four-year-old's daughter's devastating confession.
The mum admitted she knew that one day there would come a time when she would be told something similar to what she herself told her parents. Only she thought it would be when her daughter was a teenager. So she was shocked and "completely and utterly not prepared" for the things her little girl started saying to her when she was just four.
Four words that cut particularly deep were: "You are ruining my life," however, the little girl would also say things like: "I am not living my best life because of you, mum." In a recent post on the Kidspot website, the mum said she knew that her daughter didn't mean it, but that it "doesn't stop it from hurting".
Giving an example of when her daughter would say such things, she explained a "typical morning" in her household, where her daughter refused to eat the lunch she had made for her, and instead wanted to go out somewhere to eat.
The mum replied: "No sorry darling, I've made some pasta that you like." In the post, the anonymous mum explained: "That was enough to ruin the day. And I know, for a small child this is a HUGE deal."

She continued: "That tiny human I have spent 100% of my life focusing on for the last four years is all of sudden using these huge and powerful words. Words that have never been voiced in our home by anyone. My girl was just a baby not that long ago. Who I grew, suffered pain and endured sleepless nights for. The one who I absolutely love with my entire being… tells me that I am ruining her life. Of course, it hurts to hear that."
The mum added: "If this has started already what the h**l is next and can someone please prepare me for that moment?!" Ending the post, she said: "To the other parents out there who might struggle with hearing this for the first time, you are not alone."
