Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool and Arsenal are still fighting for second place in the Premier League despite Manchester City 's recent struggles.
Having taken 18 points from 18, the defending champions stumbled before the international break, losing 2-1 at Wolves. And that was followed by a late defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates, giving renewed hope to their title rivals.
Tottenham and Arsenal now lead the way on 20 points, with both sides unbeaten in the league thus far. That's two clear of Pep Guardiola's side with the Reds just one further back. And there will no doubt be more twists this weekend, with the Merseyside derby kicking off the action at Saturday lunchtime.
But Carragher thinks the battle at the top will only be competitive if City continue their poor form: "The only way Liverpool – or anyone else – can win the Premier League is if Manchester City wobble," he told The Telegraph. "City’s recent defeats by Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal have given the rest a glimmer of hope.
"If Liverpool are in a position to take advantage, that is beyond the pre-season expectations. Arsenal are considered the most likely to pip City. Are Arsenal better than Liverpool? We will know by Christmas."

The Sky Sports pundit does think his former club can mount a stronger challenge if they address one area in the January transfer window: "Liverpool’s attacking options are frightening but they are still conceding too many goals and will continue to do so until Klopp fixes the lingering midfield issue – he needs a No 6," added Carragher.

I still think their battle is for second place.” Following the clash at Anfield, City host Brighton at 3pm. Arsenal then make the short trip to Chelsea at 5.30pm, meaning the lead at the top could change hands three times in a day.
Regardless, Spurs can still head into the following weekend back in first place if they get three points on Monday night. Ange Postecoglou's team host Fulham following their narrow 1-0 win at Luton last time out.
