When it comes to cooking techniques, many people have their own little hacks and tricks to make life easier in the kitchen.

However, one woman has caused ouproar after revealing her rather bizarre cooking hack when she videoed herself using a tampon to soak up her excess meat juices in her frying pan while rustling up a meal.

The unusual method caused concern for a lot of viewers, but the woman stands by her life hack and claims it's a real game-changer iin the kitchen. She wrote: "The simplest way to remove excess fat when cooking ground meat."

The content creator and TikToker, Victoria, regularly shares handy cleaning and life hacks on her social media page, however, this video caused quite a stir with her fans. Holding up two tampons, the mum-of-one demonstrated her alternative use for tampons.

The video has racked up over three million views from concerned viewers who were quick to ask why she wouldn't just use a strainer or buy beef with less fat in, rather than putting two tampons in the frying pan. Others said tampons are far too expensive to waste in a frying pan. But most importantly, commenters have stressed the potential health hazard given most tampons contain chemicals.

"Or all you have to do is put a napkin to absorb all the oil," one TikTok user suggested, echoed by another who said: "OR, and hear me out, a STRAINER." However, others were more concerned about the chemicals in tampons that Victoria had now exposed her food to. One person pointed out: "Aren't there carcinogens and glyphosate in those," while another chimed: "And all those chemicals leach into your food. Fantastic."

It wasn't Victoria's unique cooking tools that people were bothered about, many others had opinions on the look of her food too. "Why do the tampons look better than the beef," one viewer jibed as another agreed and said: "the tampons look like the tastiest thing in the pan."

It seems as cooking hacks cause mixed opinions online, as another TikToker caused a divide when she shared how she creates the perfect crispy chicken drumsticks with her unusual method. TikToker Tammylouiseee posted a five-minute video, with the heading 'This is genius!', showing how she creates the poultry dish - with the help of a couple potato chip packets. At the beginning she is seen splitting open a Lays (Walkers) party size bag of both barbeque and sour cream and onion flavours with a knife.

She then squirts a dollop of barbeque sauce in the former and scoops some sour cream dip in the latter before adding a couple of eggs to each bag. Tammy then adds a handful of chicken drumsticks inside the bags and mixes and presses down on the packets to crush all the ingredients. The drumsticks are taken out and placed carefully inside a foil baking tray before being seasoned. She is heard saying: "OK, this is my secret to a delicious, crusted chicken. Say bye bye to breadcrumbs and hello to barbeque chips as your crust.
