In July, another Massachusetts man won a million when he was just two weeks from retiring from his role as a truck driver. 65-year-old Paul Bashaw spent $20 (£16.48) on a scratchcard at J&J Variety Convenience store in West Boylston, west of Boston.
The lucky winner didn't tell his colleagues until he had completed his final two weeks of working and was ready to retire - and it was on his final day that he cashed in his lottery ticket for the $1million (£825,830) prize. J&J Variety also won a $10,000 (£8,233) prize for selling him the winning ticket - a '$5,000,000 100x Cashword' ticket
Mr Bashaw said it completed a trio of things he once told his wife would never happen - even though he wanted them to. This included first hitting a hole-in-one during his rounds of golf which he did in 2015 and the New England Patriots winning the Super Bowl which they first did in 2002.
"Now I've hit all three," he reportedly told lottery officials. He plans on spending the money to go on travels during his retirement - and enjoy life outside a vehicle.
