Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be released exclusively on PS5 this Friday. Here's what time you'll be able to swing into the game.

We've had to wait a while for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 but finally, almost two years after being announced during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase, the game's release is almost here. The sequel to the critically acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man from 2018 will be released exclusively on PS5 consoles, with players able to play as Peter Parker and Miles Morales against a number of iconic villains from the Spider-Man universe including Kraven the Hunter, Sandman, Lizard and of course, Venom.

Mirror Gaming's Marvel's Spider-Man 2 review was full of praise for Insomniac's latest AAA title, ending up with a 5/5 review score, with our gaming content creator Aaron Potter saying that the developer has delivered "a phenomenal follow-up to its 2018 superhero spectacular that is full of heart, spectacle and innovation in all the right places."

Here's when players can swing into the new PlayStation exclusive game, with the confirmed Marvel's Spider-Man 2 release time.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 release time

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will become available to play at 12:01am on Friday, October 20 local time, no matter where you live in the world, with one caveat. For players in the US the game will release at 12:01am EDT across the country (11pm CDT / 10pm MDT / 9pm PDT on October 19). For players based in New Zealand, this will be music to your ears, because if you're based there the game is able to be played now, several hours before players in the UK or the US.

But unlike players on Xbox, players on PlayStation consoles aren't able to change their locations, so there's no way of gaining early access. It's also worth reiterating that the game will only be playable on PS5 consoles, so players with a last-gen PS4 console will need to upgrade their hardware to experience the latest Spider-Man game.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 features a much bigger map than its predecessor, with players able to explore a larger version of New York that now includes both Brooklyn and Queens in this open-world experience.

If you haven't managed to get your hands on the game yet, we've rounded up all of the places where you can buy Marvel's Spider-Man 2, whether you want the digital or physical edition of the game. Players can also get their hands on a limited-edition Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS5 console, with Spider-Man-themed console covers and a special PS5 DualSense controller, if you're that way inclined!
