Harry and Meghan's holiday 'won't resolve underlying issues in relationship'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are believed to have spent time away together on holiday recently, with them visiting an island in the Caribbean just days ago.

The couple's vacation comes after they were in New York City last week for the Archewell Foundation Parents' Summit. Following the event in the US, both Meghan, 42, and Prince Harry, 39, are said to have headed to Canouan, an island that's part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

It's been suggested that they 'needed to reconnect' and may have done so by visiting the island. In light of the speculation, The Mirror spoke to relationship expert Louella Alderson, who co-founded dating app So Syncd.

Louella told us: "It's possible that the getaway to a lavish Caribbean Island could help Meghan and Prince Harry reconnect, but ultimately it will depend on their individual desires and efforts to work on their relationship.

"A luxurious vacation can provide an opportunity for them to spend quality time together without distractions from their busy lives. It can also serve as a chance for them to work through any issues they may be facing and strengthen their bond.

"However, it's important to remember that a vacation alone can't fix any underlying issues in a relationship. The holiday away from their children, the media, and their jobs may provide a temporary escape, but the reality of their relationship will still be waiting for them when they return."

Louella said that if there are "serious issues" in the relationship then time away could help them "remember why they fell in love and potentially give them a fresh perspective on the situation". She however said it would require work.

She said: "Ultimately, it will require work when they return to their normal lives for them to truly reconnect and rebuild their relationship. They need to communicate openly and honestly with each other, address any underlying issues, and make a conscious effort to prioritize their relationship when they are back to their busy schedules.

"The constant media attention and scrutiny may add extra pressure for Meghan and Harry during the difficult times in their relationship. The getaway to a private island could provide them with the privacy and space they need to work through their issues without outside interference."

Further discussing the trip, Louella said: "It can also serve as a way for them to reconnect away from the public eye and focus on strengthening their bond as a couple. Ultimately, whether or not the getaway will truly help Meghan and Harry reconnect will depend on how they use this time and their willingness to put in the effort to rebuild their relationship."

Asked whether it appears that they are avoiding potential problems or trying to make things work, she said: "If Harry and Meghan have gone away to work on their relationship, it shows that they aren't running from their problems but are actively trying to make things work. Taking time away together and being intentional about investing in their relationship can be a positive step towards reconciliation."

She added that alone time away from their children and careers can help "build intimacy" and address any issues that may have "caused a strain in their relationship".

She further commented about the pair: "Running from a problem usually means avoiding it or denying its existence, but if their getaway is centred around their relationship, they are actively acknowledging and addressing their issues.

"It's important to remember that most couples have ups and downs. It's common for long-term relationships and marriages to go through challenging patches where they require extra effort and attention to maintain a strong connection."

Louella concluded by saying about the married couple: "If Meghan and Harry are taking some time away to reconnect, it indicates they are trying to deal with their issues in a healthy and productive way.

"Their decision to spend time together and work on their relationship may also be a reflection of how they truly feel about each other. Despite the challenges and difficulties, they may still deeply love and care for one another and want to make things work."
