Strictly Come Dancing's judge's 'savage' remark sparks loud boos from audience

Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel Horwood had a "savage" response to the BBC One audience on Saturday's show after they booed over his remark to Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice.

The duo did a Foxtrot to Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac, which prompted Craig, 58, to say: "It got a little bit like dressage darling because your feet were coming up too much", which prompted some boos from the audience. However, Craig was quick to fire back with: "If you lot can't boo properly then don't bother, honestly!" This then prompted even louder boos from the audience as the judge hilariously quipped: "Now I feel at home, darling!"

Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to react to the scenes as one person took to Twitter, now X, and said: "'If you lot can't boo properly, don't bother.' Savage, CRH. Savage. #strictly #SCD", a different account put: "Craig is savage 'if you lot can’t boo properly don’t bother' #Strictly", while another viewer wrote: "'Now I feel at home, darling.' Craig loves those audience boos #Strictly #scd2023", with laughing emojis.

It comes as Nikita Kanda and Gorka Marquez were eliminated last week as they became the second due to leave the BBC One dance competition. The professional dancer, 33, was paired with BBC Asian Network radio star Nikita, 28, in this series, after reaching the final in 2022 with Helen Skelton. The pair performed a jive for movie week themed around Clueless, but their performance did not impress the judges, earning them just 21 out of a possible 40 points, including a low score of 4 from Craig Revel Horwood.

The duo found themselves in the dance-off with Graziano Di Prima and Zara McDermott with former Love Island star Zara, 26, and Graziano being unanimously saved by the judges. The first celebrity to leave the series was Les Dennis after his Samba to Rock The Boat by Hues Corporation with pro partner Nancy Xu failed to impress the judges. Reflecting on his exit, Les, 70, told host Tess Daly: "I've had the best time, this lady [Nancy] has been amazing, a great teacher, she's really put me through my paces."
