Dad's heartbreaking message from family's Gaza home as evacuation deadline ends
A father in the bomb-hit Gaza strip has spoken of his "constant fear and worry" for his family as devastating rockets fall constantly around his home.
Almeqdad Jameel, a resident of Shati camp in Gaza City, posted heartfelt messages about his daughter and family on Saturday morning, as he began to fear he had only hours left to live when Israel's deadline for evacuations passed. Writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), he shared that his wife and two-month-old daughter have been evacuated while he stayed behind, with a series of tweets revealing a worsening situation in the bomb-hit Palestinian region.
In one of them, he shares his fears that she will soon be left without a father, writing: “I am living in constant fear and worry for my daughter who is a year and two months old. At any moment she may have to continue her life without me. I am not afraid for myself at all. As a Muslim I believe that my fate lies with God. My wish is that we don’t end up under the ruins, watching our children and unable to help.”

Israeli forces have ordered around 1.1 million people in the north of the region to move south within a 24 hour deadline ahead of an expected ground invasion.
The physical and emotional toll of the constant bombardment is clear in Almeqdad's tweets, and he penned: “I’ve come to say one thing. For the last two days I have been living in fear and anger, and I can’t seem to find a way to express this to my friends and acquaintances around the world. We are all preparing for the final moments. The rockets are falling at night as if our turn is coming. There isn’t a second of sleep or comfort.”

Mr Jameel also spoke of some the supply issues, sharing that "calls and the internet have stopped completely". "The airstrikes haven’t stopped for a moment in the past two days", he added. "Even leaving Gaza is very hard since they haven’t stopped firing rockets since last night. The entire family that lived next door to me have been martyred whilst trying to leave. My brother’s leg is severely injured and we anticipate that he will die at any moment. We, in Gaza [City] have not left and we do not know what will happen after the warning."
