Woman gets searing revenge after mum-in-law shamed her for fertility issues
Not everyone gets on with their mother-in-law. While some people quickly form a close bond with their partner's mum, others struggle to see eye-to-eye, which can lead to some major friction in the family.
One woman has revealed she recently came to blows with her mother-in-law after she made a shocking comment after her infertility - and after hearing all the details, people are 100% on her side.
The lady in question and her husband have been trying to fall pregnant for three years now but fertility issues - including a Polycystic Ovary Syndrome diagnosis - have stopped them from conceiving. The mother-in-law is aware of their struggles.
Everything came to a head at a recent family barbecue when the husband was playing with his cousin's baby. The woman revealed that her mother-in-law then turned to her and said: "You are cruel and selfish for stopping my son from having everything he wants.”
"In the moment I just saw red and said, 'Well, we seem to have different opinions on that," she wrote on Reddit. "'I think it's cruel and selfish to cheat on your husband and the father of your two children with his best friend, kick him out and move your bit on the side in two weeks later, but that's just me. Out of curiosity, is it all infertile women who are cruel and selfish or just the ones married to your sons?"

While the woman admitted "it felt great" in the moment, her mother-in-law then started crying and the whole family took her side. Her husband is furious with his mother, but also believes his wife has crossed a line. "I have told my husband that I have no problem with him maintaining a relationship with his mother but I will not be apologising to her," she added.
The woman later shared additional details with readers, including how she found out about her mother-in-law cheating. "She actually told me herself! We were watching TV together and a woman there was talking about how long after divorce her new partner should move in with her and her kid," she explained. "I asked her how long after splitting up with her husband did she start seeing her ex partner. She had no shame when she told me, oh it was before we split up and he moved in two weeks after I kicked my husband out. Tbh she was so shameless about it that I assumed everyone knew."
Reddit users had a lot to say on the subject. "I say the mother-in-law deserves what she got. Which was a verbal slap and an epic shaming," one wrote. A second agreed: "Brilliant comeback. Absolutely epic." A third said: "I hate it when people can dish it out but can't take it."
A fourth concluded: "Good response and don't apologise unless she apologised first. Your apology can be something like 'I'm sorry I lost my temper about what you said. It's a sore subject we shouldn't talk about again.' Hopefully she'll think twice before putting you down again. If she seems to be winding up to something in the future, just ask 'are you sure you want to go there again?!'"
