Brainteasers, optical illusions and puzzles are all multi-taskers: good for our attention spans, a fun way to procrastinate and they can improve our problem-solving skills, all while - some research shows - keeping our brains sharp as we age.
This brainteaser at first glance looks like it will be a walk in the park, but it's actually trickier than you might expect, and only 1% of people are said to be able to solve it in only seven seconds.
If you can do it that quickly, your vision and attention to detail are second to none - and you may well have had some practice pouring over 'Where's Wally' books. Keep reading to see how fast you can solve it.
The image is a rainforest scene, and somewhere hidden inside it is a snake, which is very well camouflaged by vines and leans. What's likely to stand out to you most initially are the colourful parrots and tropical birds perched around the scene, so don't waste too much time gazing at their bright feathers and get distracted from your mission here.
This rainforest scene brainteaser contains a hidden snake. (Jagran Josh)This kind of hidden object brainteaser works by inserting lots of smaller images and huge amounts of detail into the larger overall scene. While there are three most common types of optical illusions: literal, physiological and cognitive, this type of puzzle has more of its roots in art, rather than science - although all brainteasers like this use a fusion of the two to create a hard-to-solve conundrum.

Here, the shapes of the vines, which are so similar to that of a snake are a kind of decoy or distraction from finding the creature. The use of such similar shapes may cause your brain to try and fill in the gaps, to process the information held in the image as quickly as possible. Don't forget, what we see is actually hundreds of milliseconds behind what is happening in reality as our brains have to take, process and react to what our eyes see at super-speed - sometimes this can lead to it making incorrect assumptions.
So, if you managed to find the snake in seven seconds, you can give yourself a pat on the back and also share this with everyone you know just so they all know you've got eyes like a hawk and frankly a terrifying level of attention to detail. If you didn't find it in seven seconds, but still managed it, well done, most of us won't have been able to do it in such a short amount of time.
If you're still searching for the snake scroll back up and give the brainteaser another look, but here's a hint if you want one: focus on the bottom right hand quarter of the image. If you've simply had enough of trying, or want your suspicions confirmed, the answer is below.
Here, the snake is revealed. (Jagran Josh)This tricky brainteaser wasn't for the weak, with individual imagery used throughout designed to keep you from noticing the snake. You might have noticed that the snake is very similar in shade to a vine hanging just above it to the left, but overall is one of the dullest shades in the image, meaning that amongst all the competition of almost identical shapes and bright shades, our eyes naturally don't notice it.
